Dr. Rajashekar Y.L., MD & CEO of Shekar Eye Hospital, was felicitated with a Certificate of Appreciation at the grand launch of “The League Extraordinaire,” a premium coffee table book brought out by The New Indian Express. The exclusive edition honors dozens of visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers across diverse fields, celebrating their monumental contributions to society and industry — and Dr. Rajashekar’s journey was featured among them under the section “Eyeconic – Beyond Sight.”
The launch event, held in Bengaluru, was graced by several dignitaries including Shri Jagadish Shettar (Former Chief Minister of Karnataka) and Eshwar Khandre (Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of Karnataka).

Inside the book, Dr. Rajashekar’s profile — titled “A Journey of Purpose and Care” — traces his inspiring path in a chapter called “Roots That Rise, Dreams That Surprise.” It follows his journey from a modest, Kannada-medium upbringing marked by financial hardship in Yegavakote village, Kolar district, through the disciplined foundation of Vidyarthi Mandiram (Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru) and onward to AIIMS, to becoming a leading name in ophthalmic care in Bengaluru. Shaped by scarcity, mentorship, and determination, his story reflects a life built on service and dignity.
As he puts it in the book: “Vision is not what we see — it is what we enable others to see.”
