Dr. Rajashekar Y. L. and Dr. Vivek M. Bhaskar, esteemed doctors of Shekar Eye Hospital, were honoured with the Times Health Excellence Award in Ophthalmology in December 2024 by acclaimed Bollywood actor Sonu Sood.

During World Glaucoma Week, Dr. Rajashekar YL from Shekar Eye Hospital highlighted India’s glaucoma challenge—11.9 million affected, with a significant number blind due to low awareness and care access.
